EFFECTS OF THE FLOOD

The day after the flood, Clark County had declared a state of emergecy. The flood was so catastrophic it had gotten the attention of at-the-time president Bill Clinton, who ordered financial aid. 180 repair jobs had to be done due to the damage of this flood. A year later in 2000 the county announced plans to improve the Flamingo Wash near the trailer park affected. This project installed storm drains and flood channels throughout. As of 2019, the project is 75% complete. The mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Newman stated the flood could have been a lot worse if it were not for existing flood networks.
